The 3rd fresh water kayak fishing competition was held on Saturday 16 January 2010 on the Vaal river just past Parys at a lovely resort called Dimalachite. The water was slightly muddy from all the rain, but a number of barbel came out as well as a few yellows. The heat chased some off the water earlier than others, but the persistence of some paid off. The river was flowing strong and six of the guys took on the rapids down to Hadida creek, great fun! For the brave there was a foofy slide that dropped you in the middle of the river. A really awsome day that makes you realise we have some great waters around the Gauteng area!

The results:

1st place - Calvin - 4 barbel - 7.3kg + 500g x 4 =2kg = 9.3kg

2nd place - Chris - 2 barbel   2 yellow fish

3rd place - Brian - 2 barbel - 5kg + 1kg = 6kg

4th place - Elmero - 5 barbel - 4kg total
