Salwater Hunter Ski Angler
Although there is only one shape of Hunter Ski kayak, the kayak can be fitted according to intended use.
Suggested fittings for the Saltwater angler.

1. Internal Bouyancy foam - this enables the owner to seaworthy the kayak with the relevant authorities. The SADSA requirement is 3litres of internal bouyancy. We install 9 litres of high density foam which is fixed to the outer wings of the Hunter Ski, thus staying out of the way of storage areas in the hull.

2. Velcro rod holders - these secure rods to the back deck of the Hunter Ski. This holds the rods safely in the event of being rolled by a wave. The rods are also out of the way of the paddler in this position.

3. Large rectangular hatches - There are three different shaped rectangular hatches which fit onto the back deck of the Hunter Ski. Mainly for the purpose of storing large fish that are going to be kept for dinner. A long thin rectangular hatch(52cm x 17cm) allows you to slide rods into the hull of the Hunter Ski, but in my experience it is easier, and very secure, using the velcro rod holders on the deck. The other two hatches dimensions are, 29cm x 19 cm, 29cm x 29cm.

4. Fitted fishing box - When angling at sea, it is advisable to keep things simple, especially for the novice. For this reason I would reccomend a single layered tackle box to keep essentail tackle in.

5. Extra straps - these can be fitted almost anywhere on the Hunter Ski. A bait box can be secured behind the paddlers back in the cooler box indentation.

6. Paddle and rod leashes - Although rods can be secured to the deck during launch, it is a good idea to have your rods tied to the kayak at all times, unfortunately rods don't float. A paddle does float, but a paddle leash does keep your mind at ease and helps when Seaworthying your kayak. It qualifies as a righting line, helps to get your kayak upright after being tipped over.
