2nd ever fresh water kayak fishing competition

06:00 - 02:30

Oh what fun we have when the barbel are spawning!!!

Another successful competion, and things are hotting up to see who takes the series at the end of the season. Before I put down the results, we should set a date for the 3rd competition. Sat and Sun 13, 14th DEC, any other ideas?

The placings for Roodeplaat 2nd freshwater kayak fishing competition were as follows:

1st. Rick Flare - 5 barbel, 2 canary kurper - 33 points
2nd. Dave Mollatt - 4 barbel, 1 canary kurper - 30 points
3rd. Chris Lelo - 3 barbel, 2 bass - 29 points
4th. Brian Jacob - 5 barbel - 28 points
5th. Corneil Jacob - 2 barbel

The species multiplier played a big role and it looks like that is the way to win these comp. We are yet for somebody to catch 3 species in one comp!

Series points:
1st 50
2nd 40
3rd 30
4th 20
5th 10

We also need a venue for the next competition. Please make some suggestions!

Hello fellow fisherman,

Hunter Ski will be hosting the second kayak fishing competition of the season this coming weekend, 15 and 16 November.

The venue is the newly cleaned Roodeplaat dam.

We will run Saturday and Sunday as 2 separate competitions.

This will allow people who can only make one day to still enter the Comp.

Please join the Kayak fishing group, hosted by hunter Ski, on Facebook if possible.

This medium allows us to share information easily amongst our ever increasing members in our sport.

Roodeplaat gates open at 6am and close at 9pm in the evening.

The comp will start at 6:30 am on Saturday and Sunday morning.

We will launch from the canoe and rowing club.

We will be camping there on Friday and Saturday night, so please join us if you can.

There is a new and improved Hunter Ski on its way, and we should get our first glimpse of it in 2 weeks time.

There will be an entrance fee into the comp to cover the prize at the end of the season.

The new and improved Hunter Ski will be the prize at the end of the fresh water fishing series, hosted by Hunter Ski.

Please let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions.

After an extremely successful first competition, there have been a number of requests for the competitions to be turned into a series of competitions with a champion declared at the end of the season. We will also be using the artlure points structure as there was quite some debate over barbel weight counting the same as bass weight.

There is also the possibilty of making the competition into 2 fishing days. We shall finalise everything as we go along
